Wiggle - Day 948

Wiggle and Sofy have been taking it easy today. We had a stroll around to the shop this morning to get a paper and then mid-morning, I had some brunch and Wiggle and Sofy had some bacon!

I did chores and other things which don't interest Wiggle and Sofy so they took it in turns in one of the beds:

Sofy then moved so Wiggle took her space:

Sleepy boy:

After my housework was done, we all had a nice couple of hours, curled up on the sofa and had ourselves a relaxing afternoon....

Wiggle - Day 947

We all had nice little lie-in this morning, after getting up for breakfast, Wiggle, Sofy and I went back to bed for a while, all 3 of us on my bed. Sofy was being silly and rolling around while Wiggle managed to get himself under the duvet!

Once we were up, despite starting out cold and frosty, by the time we went out, the cloud had come down and it was drizzly.

We went up to the Downs for our 'big' walk and as the racehorses were on the gallops, walked along the top.

Dreary days don't stop Wiggle though!

Sitting, waiting for the ball:

Wiggle thought the ball had gone much further, but Sofy knew exactly where it was!

Once he had the ball again, Wiggle went off down the hill, doing his own thing:

Back on the uphill path, Wiggle takes the lead while Sofy snuffles around:

Wiggle with ball; Sofy just pondering.....

One the way back to the car:

Sofy likes to stay close to me, just in case she gets a treat - best "feed me" face:

Leads back on, heading for the car:

Wiggle - Day 946

Wiggle has walked, had his dinner but still he seems to think something should be happening..... He doesn't know what though!

Wiggle - Day 945

An ordinary kind of a day for Wiggle and Sofy. The clear, cold night bought us a heavy frost for our morning walk, but even though we're still in January, it definitely seems like the mornings are gradually getting a little lighter.

Our walk this evening was uneventful - no running off for Wiggle as we walked around to the shop, so they both stayed on lead. While I was in the shop, Wiggle and Sofy waited outside and played with the automatic door, making it open and close.

Now they're settling down for the evening....

Wiggle - Day 944

Wiggle is looking all sleepy and angelic, isn't he?

Wiggle is worn out. We walked in the frosty field but Wiggle had his own agenda and decided to completely ignore me, sniffing smells and not wanting to walk with Sofy and I. So by the time Sofy and I had walked one way and then back the other, Wiggle was still doing his own thing, oblivious to us, despite my calls.

Hard to imagine, when he looks so innocent now....

Wiggle - Day 943

After celebrating Sofy's gotcha day, its all been back to normal today.

Wiggle, resting on the sofa after his dinner, relaxing....

Sofy was relaxed too, stretched out on the rug:

Until I went to make a coffee and came back in the room to find Sofy had stolen my spot in the sofa!

Happy First Gotcha Day Sofy!

Today we are celebrating - Sofy's Gotcha Day, a whole year to the date since she came home to live with us.

When she first arrived, Sofy was on foster after being given up by her family. We weren't sure how she would be with other dogs as she'd not always had the best manners so I offered to foster Sofy and carry out a full assessment.

Back in January 2010, we still had the lovely Sir H and all 3 got on well from day one:

February, and Sofy was starting to settle and having fun with Wiggle and sharing his toys:

By March, it was time for Crufts as we'd been invited to represent rescue Labrador's at the Kennel Club's Charitable Trust stand. On her best behaviour, Sofy shared the pen with lots of different dogs, including the lovely Ellie, part of the Southern Golden Retriever Display Team:

April and it was a springtime walk at Cotswold Water Park, with our friend Barney and his mum:

The weather got warmer so by May, Sofy was enjoying splashing around in the paddling pool with Wiggle:

June and more play, with Armadillo. Sofy loves Armadillo as he has many squeaking parts!

July and a sunny walk at Caen Hill Locks:

August was when we had our little camping trip to Devon - fun on the beach!

September, summer coming to an end but not an end to the fun, this time down at the river:

October, turning autumnal, colours which suit Sofy!

November, the mild before the snow, up at Maude Heath:

Late December, after a wonderful Christmas with our friends in London, a snowy walk in Richmond Park:

And then to January, splashing around in muddy puddles:

This year has gone so quickly, yet it seems like Sofy has always been here. She has settled in and seems happy with Wiggle and I. There are still the odd moments when Sofy forgets her manners and shouts at other dogs, but for the most part, Sofy is perfect for us and while I know that her family was so sad to let Sofy go, I will be forever grateful that they asked LRSE&C to help and that Sofy ended up here.

Happy First Gotcha Day my Sofy Monster!
