Wiggle - Day 660

This morning we went on a little exploration!

You might remember that last week we walked up to Black Dog Halt and that in previous walks, we've been down to the river in town. After last week's walk I realised that if we had of carried on, we would have ended up by the river, so as today has been such a nice, warm and bright day, I decided that we would do the entire route.

We started off from home and walked down through the town. Wiggle and Sofy don't really go into the town centre but they were both very good and walked nicely.

After about 20 minutes, we were down by the river:

Looking back towards the main road:

The bridge above the canal:

Plaque on the bridge:

We walked on and in no time at all, Wiggle was a VERY happy boy!

Wiggle and Sofy had lots of fun, in and out of the water:

Sofy waits for the ball:

And gets it!

Wiggle's turn:

Wiggle, pretending that he doesn't know where the ball is....

More play, with a little dog who preferred to paddle:

Splish, splash in the sunshine:

We walked on along the path, while Wiggle still wanted to play ball:

I have no idea what Sofy was looking at that was so interesting!

Wiggle still had his ball while Sofy was doing her own thing:

Home is over the hill! Last week we'd been at this same point & it was just starting to rain:

And this path was just all mud....

Spring flowers:

Wiggle, back at 'his' halt!

I had thought the walk would take us a couple of hours but in fact it was only an hour and a half. We all enjoyed it though, especially as the weather was so nice.

This afternoon I spent some time tidying in the garden, so Sir H came outside to sunbathe and keep me company:

Wiggle decided to join us while Sofy was inside, fast asleep on the sofa!

Wiggle - Day 659

We're all very pleased it's Friday! And by the looks of it, we're set for some good weather this weekend.

This evening it was dinner first, then play time after. Wiggle and Sofy ran & chased after their ball while Sir H pottered around, before having his roll on the grass. We only went to the green at the end of the road but it was enough for Sir H. He struggled a little on the way back, but a few short stops and he made it home. It does break my heart, seeing Sir H hobbling as he does, but in himself he's happy and he's still very alert.

So long as he's happy though, thats the main thing...

Wiggle - Day 658

We've had such a beautiful, sunny and mild day here in Wiltshire that as soon as I got home from work, the dogs were put in the car and we went to the Downs.

Wiggle and Sofy had fun in the evening fun:

Sir H lay down, getting ready to roll:

While Wiggle and Sofy didn't want to sit still for long!

Playing ball:

Wiggle ran ahead, hoping to beat Sofy to the ball:

And it was a tactic that worked!

Sir H gve spent some time, checking his paws:

Happy, sunny dogs:

Sir H decided to take himself off, for some evening sunbathing:

Sofy and Wiggle didn't have time to stop though....

Sir H, upright for a change:

Despite starting off neck and neck...

Wiggle was quicker than Sofy:

Sir H, laying down. Again:

Wiggle had managed to grow some drool on his face:

Sofy's turn with the ball:

Athletic Wiggle:

He who jumps highest gets the ball!

After all that lovely fresh air, a rest before dinner, I now have 3 sleepy, happy dogs....

Wiggle - Day 657

I was all ready to start blogging when Sofy decided to stretch out, belly up, next to me on the sofa!

Wiggle doesn't care and is now listening to stereo-snoring - Sir H on his bed in the corner and Sofy this side.

Talking of Sofy, she has been doing really well with her lead walks. I've continued to use the Gentle Leader headcollar which has given me more control and to keep Sofy focused on me. We have been able to walk past other dogs and along with treats, Sofy has ignored them and been completely relaxed.

This evening we walked round to the shop and on the way back, followed to kids walking a Labrador and a Retriever. Even though we were walking less than 12ft behind them, Sofy didn't bark or lunge once and was walking along, happily wagging her tail.

In some ways, I think I'm more relaxed, knowing that with the Gentle Leader Sofy can't lunge and as Sofy will focus on me for treats, I am sending positive, relaxed vibes down the lead to Sofy.

Now that the evening's are lighter, we see more dogwalkers than we did a month ago but its all good practise for Sofy and we're all able to enjoy our walks more.

Wiggle - Day 656

Wiggle doesn't have much to report today as I've been back at work and he's been catching up on sleep with Sir H and Sofy. Since getting home, I've been busy trying to get organised for different events this summer.

Coming up, there's Bowood Dog Show in June - http://www.bowood-house.co.uk/dog_show.html

Milton Keynes Big Doggie Do in July - website details to come.

Nadder Valley Fun Dog Show in August - http://nvfds.weebly.com/

And not forgetting the LRSE&C Dogs Party in September. There's a change of venue this year so more details to follow.

Wiggle will be updating his Diary with all the events he's going to try and get to!

Wiggle - Day 655

Today we've just had uninteresting local walks but Wiggle has still had some excitement in his day - I've made dog treats!

One of my Christmas presents was a book called Pupcakes so last night I let Wiggle have a little browse and choose a recipe. Obviously as Wiggle can't read, I had to have some input in his choice!

Wiggle chose Magic Muttballs! They're really easy to make - just minced chicken, breadcrumbs, some dried oregano and an egg.

All made and ready to go in the oven:

Needless to say, I had some taste testers ready and willing to give their verdict:

Sir H chose to stay on his bed, preferring to wait until the treats were ready. And after 20 minutes in the oven and time to cool, they were!

Wiggle and Sofy were waiting patiently while Sir H was all blurry with excitement!

They gave their Magic Muttballs a big paw's up and Wiggle liked them so much, he decided to sit and stare at me, hoping to get some more....
