Wiggle - Day 625

We stayed close to home today for our walk - going to the fields just across the road. Wiggle was running off with his ball:

Soon joined by Sofy!

Sitting in the sunshine:

Our house is in the background!

Fun in the sun:

Even though this isn't the best photo, lighting etc, I love the pair of them running together....

Sitting for the ball:

Waiting patiently, serious expression!

Pretty Sofy:

More running & kicking up some mud!

Sofy managed to stay quite clean for a while....

Whereas Wiggle didn't take long to get muddy!

Muddy paws!

Mud didn't slow them down:

Sofy didn't stay clean for long!

By comparison, Wiggle's face looks quite clean!

More play:

Walking back via the lane, the sheep were in the field. Soon there will be lambs!

Wiggle, with his ball, watched the sheep who then started to move away....

Spring is in the air - snowdrops:

Wiggle - Day 624

A late blog entry today, what with one thing and another I realised I'd not blogged for Wiggle!

Having had a busy day sleeping, walking, eating and sleeping some more, and now its late, Wiggle, Sir H and Sofy are all sleeping.

Sofy is tucked up in bed and has been for some time!

We're hoping for some more of the nice spring weather over the weekend so we can get out and about....

Wiggle - Day 623

Not much to report from Wiggle's world today. After a frosty walk this morning, the dogs all slept until the dogwalker came in. The tennis ball that had been stuck in a patch of mud in the garden had come inside though!

After another cold walk this evening, Wiggle, Sir H and Sofy are fast asleep......

Said there wasn't much to report, didn't I?!

Wiggle - Day 622

It's less than 2 weeks now until Crufts! I'm trying to get things organised, with the help of Margaret, lovely secretary for LRSE&C. I've talked to Heidi from the Kennel Club as she is going to be filming for CruftsTV which will be shown on the More4 channel. Slightly nervous about that!

For Labrador Rescue South East & Central, it's a great honour to be invited to attend Crufts through their Charitable Trust. The Trust helps many rescues in the UK, promoting breed rescue's and making donations. When we were at Discover Dogs back in November it was a surprise to me that so many people who visited us on our stand didn't realise that pure breed dogs come up in rescue so frequently.

To have the opportunity to promote rescue Labrador's is wonderful and I'm sure Wiggle and Sofy will be on their best behaviour and make excellent ambassador's for rescue Lab's everywhere.

However, Wiggle was not in the least bit excited or nervous about his big day!

Sir H tried to make out that he didn't care....

But Sofy at least managed to look a little more lively at the thought of meeting lots of people!

Well, she was awake, so that's a start!

Wiggle - Day 621

Today has been vet-visit day. First up was Wiggle who went to see Bridget the skin specialist for a check-up. Wiggle hadn't seen her for a fair few months and is still on the Atopica so while we were there, blood samples were taken for testing. We'll get the results in a few days.

Bridget said that Wiggle is in fantastic condition and after a physical examination, pronounced him fit and healthy. She commented on how muscular Wiggle is, not an ounce of fat on him! Interestingly, she did say that he is slightly more muscular on one side of his hips than the other but after a thorough check and manipulation of Wiggle's joints, confirmed no problems there.

Sofy stayed home while Wiggle was at the vets and not knowing how she would be without him, last night I prepared a Kong for her stuffed with soaked kibble and mashed up pilchard. I'd frozen it, to make it last longer and when we left, she was wandering around with it in her mouth! When we got home, the empty Kong was on Sofy's bed and she had been up in the spare room, fast asleep. It's not often I need to take one of the dogs, but it's good to know that Sofy is fine being left for a couple of hours.

This afternoon, it was Sofy's turn to see the vet as I realised that I'd not taken her to get her registered. Sofy is fit and healthy but all new dogs get registered with my vets, just in case of an emergency etc. When we got to the vets, there was another dog waiting but Sofy was very polite and said hello, before introducing herself to Anne, the receptionist, and getting a treat!

When it was her turn, Sofy was very excited to go in the consulting room and had a good sniff round before saying hello to Malcolm the vet. He said she's in excellent condition and a very pretty girl. Malcolm did say that it was unusual for me to have a new dog that's young, fit and healthy!

As we've had another beautiful spring day here, Wiggle and Sir H also came along to the vets, but waited in the car, so we headed on up to the Downs for a walk.

Wiggle and Sofy ran straight from the car, ready for me to throw the ball:

Sir H plodded along at a slower pace!

Running in the sun:

Wiggle gets a head start to get the ball:

But Sofy just goes for a game of tuggy......

Which wins her the ball!

Ever the gentleman, Wiggle let's go, but still keeps his eyes on the ball:

Sir H was happy just to watch, enjoying the fresh spring air:

Sofy tries to get ahead this time:

Wiggle runs around, looking for the ball:

But Sofy had it!

Sir H was ready for his close-up:

While the youngsters were too busy playing:

Sir H, happy old chap, rolling around:

Tongue hanging out, Sofy was starting to get tired.....

While Wiggle was ahead, still full of energy!

Sir H, all gooey-eyed, having an ear rub...

After two lovely days off, it's back to work for me tomorrow. So Wiggle and Sofy can catch up on their sleep!

Wiggle - Day 620

I've had the day off today and as luck would have it, we've had a lovely, sunny spring day here. Making the most of the weather, after visiting the parents, we headed over to the Cotswold Water Park http://www.cotswoldcountrypark.co.uk/index.html

Wiggle didn't hang around and was in the water pretty much as soon as he jumped out of the car!

Sofy stayed dryer for longer, but still wanted to chase the ball:

A swan. Sofy later decided to try and swim out to the swan but found she couldn't really swim and bark at the same time!

Pretty Sofy, no doubt planning her swan chasing!

Having fun in the sunshine:

Sofy gets the ball:

Dogs Allowed!

Sofy, swimming back after going to "say hello" to the swan:

Waiting for the ball:

Exploring:

More swimming:

Back on dry land:

Then back in the water!

Wiggle and Sofy, enjoying their walk:

Wiggle chases Sofy:

Soggy dogs:

Once we'd walked all around the lake, I got a coffee as I thought it would be nice to sit out. Sofy also decided it was nice - sitting ON the table!

Clearly, a better view from higher up!

Wiggle watches the birds:
