Wiggle - Day 416

This afternoon Wiggle and I went to the Bowood Game Fair and had a wander around. Wiggle met some Alpaca's but they weren't too sure about him! He did seem to enjoy himself though and said hello to lots of other dogs.

Being a game fair, we met lots of other gundogs, especially Labradors! Wiggle tried out some very expensive dog beds but was pleased enough with the pork scratchings I bought for him and Sir H.

Next Sunday we'll be helping out at the Labrador Rescue South East & Central stall at the Blue Cross Fun Day and Dog Show.

The event is at the charity's main adoption centre in Burford, Oxfordshire and starts at 11am, next Sunday 16th August. More details on the Blue Cross website:

Hopefully we'll have a great day and the charities attending will all raise lots of money!

Wiggle - Day 415

We made the most of the late afternoon sun and went up to Maude Heath. Sir H didn't wait long for a lie down while Wiggle was being vile and sniffing out the cow poo!

Sir H looked slightly interested while Wiggle watched the ball:

Wiggle: concentrating & sending me "throw the ball telepathic messages"!

Missing the ball:

That's better!

Sir H, still just watching...

While Wiggle feels the wind in his ears:

Sir H found a particularly interesting blade of grass:

While Wiggle was still running, ears still flapping:

Less flappy this time:

Sir H, looking very handsome, in a distinguished kind of way....

Wiggle - Day 413

As today started off nice and sunny, I got the boys bedding washed and hung out on the line. Sir H was not impressed with having to lay on the inner cover of his bed, but put up with it....

Wiggle decided to do some rolling around, to pass the time until he could get back into bed. Blurry, black rolling thing:

After all that activity, Wiggle decided next on his list was some ball shredding:

Thinking that we'd have a nice walk, we headed up to the Downs but when we arrived, it started to rain. The racehorses were out on the gallops:

So we went up along the path through the tree's, with Sir H bringing up the rear:

Wiggle was up and down, running around with his ball. One that hadn't been chewed yet!

Even though it was raining heavily, Wiggle still wanted to play fetch:

Sir H was less enthusiastic about running around:

Wiggle, waiting for the ball to be thrown:

Sir H opted for a rest, even though by now it was raining heavily:

Wiggle wasn't at all bothered and carried on running around like a loon:

While we were out getting wet, the bedding on the line was also getting wetter! So much for the day which started out sunny....

Wiggle - Day 412

Wiggle has been in a silly, boingy mood this evening. He started off with a tennis ball, then chewed bits off one of his sponge balls before deciding that his floating dummy toy was the toy of choice.

Sir H kept well out of the way, taking refuge in the safety of his bed and as Wiggle was clearly full of energy, we took the ball on a rope out with us when we went for our walk.

Wiggle ran and chased until he wore himself out and is now fast asleep at my feet.

Wiggle - Day 411

Sir H went to the vets today for a check up and to review his medication. Sir H really hasn't been any more mobile or active since being on the Metacam and Tramadol, so although Malcolm said he thought Sir H looked a bit perkier, he agreed that we should wait before prescribing more drugs.

So, for the time being, Sir H will finish off what was prescribed to him and then I'll monitor him to see whether there's any change. As Malcolm said, Sir H has a very stoic way about him, so its hard to tell whether he's in pain. Obviously I don't want him to be suffering but if I have to resign myself to the fact that Sir H will be more of a stay at home dog, then so be it.

Despite his lack of interest in anything much, Sir H does seem happy enough in himself and will show excitement at meal times and when he's in the mood, he'll come to me for fuss.

Sir H seems quite happy to have a little walk a couple of times a day and then go back to bed when I pop him home and take Wiggle out for a longer walk, so if that makes him happy, that's what we'll do.

Wiggle - Day 410

After breakfast, then a walk, sometimes you've just got to chill.......

Wiggle - Day 409

After a busy couple of days at work, I've had the afternoon off and making the most of a dry, bright day, took the boys up on the Downs this afternoon.

Wiggle did lots and lots of running around, so much that he stopped and lay down, which is unusual for him! Sir H plodded about, in his usual 3-legged style, but he seemed to enjoy himself.

Since getting home, Wiggle crashed out:

While Sir H wasted no time in getting up on the sofa for a sleep:

Sir H is back at the vets on Tuesday to review his medication. He's been fine since his collapse at the vets a couple of weeks ago but the anti-inflammatories and painkillers don't seem to be making much difference to his mobility. If Sir H doesn't want to walk far, that's fine, but I don't want him to be in any pain, so we'll see what Malcolm says and take it from there.
