Wiggle - Day 2,133

We've had horrid, wet weather over the last few days which is not the most fun for our walks.  Today though, Wiggle and Sofy enjoyed some playtime in the field but were mostly chewing grass:

Soon enough, the rain started again but that didn't put them off.  A team effort, Wiggle watched me while Sofy watched the ball:

In other news, in two weeks time we will be house-sitting in London for the weekend.  And Cato has a new baby brother!

Cato has been very kind to Haggis and we are looking forward to meeting him when we visit!

Wiggle - Day 2,125

Wiggle and I did our Pets As Therapy visiting this morning and once again, Wiggle was a star.  All the residents were pleased to see him and he got lots of fuss and event some biscuits.

After, we stopped at the pet shop.  Wiggle tried to look innocent, like this:

But then did this:

But Wiggle had his eye on bigger biscuits.  Way bigger!

The big cookie took a while to eat, but Wiggle wasn't in a hurry to hide the evidence of his theft:

Once we were home, Sofy was fine and had been laying in the bed in the sunny spot, working at getting the last of the peanut butter out of her Kong:

Wiggle - Day 2,123

Yesterday evening Wiggle and I went to visit a care home for the elderly who would like us to visit as Pets As Therapy volunteer's.

As always, Wiggle was on his best behaviour as we were shown around and introduced to some of the residents.  This will be the second place that we visit and as before, there is a mix of elderly residents, some with dementia.  It was clear that Wiggle will be popular with the staff and also the residents and we're very happy to now have two homes which will we each visit twice a month.

Wiggle has been making me so proud, being gentle and calm with the residents and standing for them so they can fuss him and talk to him.  He interacts with them, looking at them and gently leaning into them for as long as they stroke him and talk to him.

Some of the residents will have forgotten us by our next visit, but Wiggle won't worry, he'll just be happy to see his new friends again and bring his own therapy to them.

And for being so good, Wiggle was rewarded with some play time at Maud Heath after with Sofy, who had been a good girl and waited in the car.

Wiggle - Day 2,121

This evening we met up with a friend from work and her dog for a walk.  We walked along the old railway track and then into the field.

Dolly was looking around while Sofy was just looking:

It wasn't long before Dolly went faster:

Wiggle was running in the evening sun, with his eyes nearly closed:

Dolly took flight:

Wiggle and Sofy headed to the river but Dolly wasn't sure about going in:

She stood on the bank while Wiggle and Sofy splashed around:

Some encouragement from Sofy....

... and Dolly was in!

All three splashing around:

Soggy, but happy, two new friends:

Wiggle was thinking about his tennis ball:

Playing in the sunshine:

A cheeky pheasant ran across the field, followed at speed by Sofy but the mean pheasant then started to fly, so Sofy came back, disappointed:

Having lots of fun together, running and playing:

Dolly & Sofy: "Please can we have a treat?"

Wiggle, as always as one with his tennis ball:

Wiggle - Day 2,119

This morning we woke to another lovely, sunny day so after running some errands and stopping at Maud Heath on the way back, Wiggle and Sofy were keen to make the most of the sunshine with some play:

While I got on with some garden work, Wiggle and Sofy came and lay out in the sun, keeping me company.  I'm in the process of replacing the rotten fencing in the garden, so when I started this afternoon, Wiggle wanted to see what was on the other side of the fence:

I soon spoilt his plans though and made use of the 'Horrid' temporary winter fence to stop Wiggle or Sofy straying into next door's garden:

Wiggle - Day 2,117

This evening Wiggle went to see the vet to have his eye checked.  The corneal ulcer is still there but starting to dissipate, which is great news.  A few more days of eye drops and it should heal itself.

On the way home we stopped at Maud Heath.  Sofy seemed less excited than Wiggle:

Once the ball had been thrown, Sofy soon perked up:

Wiggle soon had the ball and was having run, running in the evening sun:

Looking normal:

Poking tongues:

Wiggle was ready to fetch again:

And do some more running:

Sofy ran down to the fence and back again:

Seems that Sofy had spotted the cows, who then came to see what we were doing:

Wiggle and Sofy didn't take any notice of their audience:

Soon it was time to say goodbye to the cows and head for home:

Wiggle - Day 2,114

Today we've had some lovely spring weather so this evening we made the most of it with a walk along the old railway track.

Once over the bridge, Wiggle had one thing on his mind:

His tennis ball!

Once Wiggle had his ball, he was off:

Sofy and I walked along behind, spotting wildlife:

Spring flowers:

Spring lambs:

And lots of rabbits!

Wiggle wasn't so interested in the flora and fauna.....

Sofy stayed on lead as she would have loved to have got closer to the pheasants!

Wiggle came back to us as he had a plan:

Sofy had the same plan too:

Into the field!  Sofy didn't wait to use the dogflap, preferring to leap over instead:

Once in the field, Sofy wasn't watching where the ball went:

Next throw and she was more observant:

Finally, Sofy brought the ball back:

Our lovely spring evening:

And at the end of our walk, the obligatory Halt photo:

Today's post is dedicated to Chomo, a special Black Labbie girl who very suddenly passed away.  Our thoughts are with you, Ray xx
