Wiggle - Day 771

After I'd cleared away all the stuffing and debris from Wiggle and Sofy's playtime, Wiggle found a leg from what had previously been a stuffed cow.

He managed to unravel the twisted threads and made some more mess, which no doubt made him very happy!

We're all packed and ready for our early start tomorrow to go to Stourhead Show. Hopefully it will stay dry and we'll have a good day with our fundraising for Labrador Rescue....

Meet Guinness....

This is Guinness:

Isn't he handsome?

Guinness was picked up by the dog warden and taken to the stray kennels where he was diagnosed with severe HD and going to be euthanised.

Luckily for Guinness, the Head Rehomer contacted Labrador Rescue South East & Central who found a foster home for Guinness. Now safe, Guinness has been to see specialists and he is going to have surgery.

Guinness is only 2 years old and such a happy, sweet natured dog that he's getting the second chance he deserves.

Unfortunately surgery doesn't come cheap so LRSE&C volunteers are now fundraising to raise the thoudands of pounds the surgery will cost.

Just over 2 years ago Wiggle was unwanted and needing help - can you help Guinness?

Wiggle - Day 766

A warm and muggy day here, with stormy dark skies but no storm!

Despite the threatening sky, we were able to walk across the field without getting soaked, so that was good. What was not so good was that I had forgotten to bring a tennis ball so Wiggle and Sofy had to make do with sniffing around instead of playing running games,

It's still very warm though so probably just as well our walk was more leisurely today.....

Wiggle - Day 765

Wiggle and Sofy have been having a relaxed Sunday and spent most of their day lounging around.

Just as well as next Sunday Wiggle and Sofy have work to do - helping me run the Labrador Rescue stall at the Stourhead Show!

http://www.stourheadshow.co.uk/

We've not been to the Stourhead Show before but we're hoping it will be a good day and we can raise a few more ££'s for LRSE&C.

Wiggle - Day 764

Wiggle and Sofy started their day with some sunbathing.....

Some chewing:

Although the chewing was all very relaxed and half-hearted!

We've been up on the Downs again this afternoon for lots of running around and now there are two very tired dogs here......

Wiggle - Day 763

This evening Wiggle was in a particularly boingy and silly mood, so rather than feed them and then wait before walking, I took the dogs up to the Downs.

Wiggle ran ahead, as always:

The ball on a rope gave Wiggle and Sofy a good run around:

Sofy, managing to look a little vacant.....

Wiggle just wants the ball but at least Sofy looks like she's woken up!

Flying!

Wiggle found an interesting sniff and followed it, completely ignoring Sofy and I. Wiggle is the dot in the distance!

Of course interesting sniffs bring on sudden cases of deafness which meant Wiggle ignored my call's....

Being mean though, Sofy and I pretended we were going the other way, which soon had Wiggle in a panic and come running!

All present and correct, complete with the tennis ball Wiggle found:

Wiggle - Day 761

Wiggle is tired....... And so am I.
For the last couple of nights, Sofy has been snoring very, VERY loudly. Loud enough that she's woken me up. Which is quite impressive as Sofy sleeps in the spare room.
I have no idea why Sofy has started making so much noise in her sleep, but even now, stretched out next to me on the sofa, her sleepy sounds are increasing in volume......

Wiggle - Day 759

We had had a nice, sunny day today. Sofy started her day with some sunbathing

After I'd finished sorting out washing and the like, we went over to Devizes for a walk along Caen Hill Locks:

Wiggle and Sofy, stopping for a rest:

Two narrow boats coming up the flight of locks:

Wiggle and Sofy with the uphill locks in the background:

A mooring post is just as useful for tying dogs!

The cafe at the top of the hill was actually open so we stopped for refreshments - coffee for me and water for the dogs:

Sofy managed to keep herself parked on the ground and not on the bench, just for a change!

After yesterday's encounter with the stinky pond water, both Wiggle and Sofy had a bath today. They were both still very stinky and Wiggle still has a bath regularly, so they each had to endure the transformation to a sweeter smell.

The post-bath routine includes some chasing around:

Sofy does the chasing while Wiggle tries to keep out of the way!

Wiggle - Day 758

We are home again after our weekend at Dogstar HQ. We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Despite the weather not looking too promising, it stayed dry again today and we were nice and busy on the Dogstar fundraising stall. The Doggy Lucky Dip went well, as did the Tombola and Teddy Tombola and Dogstar Deli which resulted in us raising over £370 for Dogstar which is brilliant.

The dogs all had good fun, although I'm not sure Noah would have put fun at the top of his agenda!

Earlier, Mark got a HotDog for Noah but Noah couldn't make up his mind whether he wanted it. No such difficult decisions if you're a Labrador, as demonstrated by Sofy and Wiggle while Mark talks to Noah who was just out of the photo:

Noah needed to check the sossije first, while Wiggle and Sofy watched, hoping Noah would decide in their favour:

Back at the stall, the Doggy Lucky Dip was very popular and a great fundraiser - £1 a go and the dogs dipped for their prizes:

All in all we've had a great time but very tiring and even Sofy and Wiggle stopped for a mid-afternoon rest:

Wiggle - Day 757

We've all had a good day at the Milton Keynes Big Doggie Do. After an early start, we were at the site and setup in time for visitors. Wiggle and Sofy were just sitting around:

After a while, Wiggle and Sofy were out front, meeting and greeting:

Much to our excitement, we had some very special visitors to the Dogstar Stall - a very lovely Lucy the Lab who was adopted by one of Wiggle's sponsors.

Lucy was adopted from LRSE&C earlier in the year and is a beautiful friendly, waggy girl and really has found herself a great home.

We don't often get the opportunity to meet Wiggle's sponsors and thank them in person so it really was lovely to meet Lucy and her family today.

Wiggle - Day 756

Wiggle has had a lovely surprise in the mail - a card from his girlfriend Lucy the Lab!

Lucy had sent a lovely card after Wiggle sent her a gift and in the card was some of Lucy's fur which Wiggle snuffled...

Wiggle was very enthusiastic in his snuffling and Lucy's fur almost went up his nose!

Thank you Lucy, Wiggle says you're the BEST!!! XXX

Today I've had the day off as we are on our way to Dogstar HQ for the Milton Keynes Big Doggie Do this weekend. We've just called into my parents house so I'm typing this blog entry from their laptop.

The car is packed full of goodies for the Dogstar stall so if anyone reading is in the Milton Keynes area, come along to Furzton Lake as the Big Doggie Do is on all weekend. The event is run by the Parks Trust and there's more information here:

We're hoping the weather is better in the east as its lashing down with rain right now!

Wiggle - Day 754

Today I discovered a crime had been committed... and will be told now, with a photographic reconstruction of events.

When I come home from work, I put my bag and car keys at the foot of the stairs, just like this:

In my bag, I've usually got a packet of sugar free mints. Today, I couldn't find the mints but thinking I must have eaten them, I thought nothing more of it.

When I came home this evening, I made a shocking discovery!

On the spare room bed, the side on which Sofy sleeps, I found the missing mints!

And not far away, was a very guilty looking mint thief:

I have no idea why after stealing the minty sweets from my bag Sofy didn't just eat them, but maybe Wiggle told her it would be a very naughty thing to do....

Wiggle - Day 751

Next weekend we'll be going to help out our friends at Dogstar Foundation with their stall at the Milton Keynes Big Doggie Do. I had volunteered to make some dog treats to sell for the charity so did some cooking today.

I had two taste testers assisting me in the kitchen and Wiggle was very happy to lick the spoon from the Pilchard Pupcake mix!

Pilchard Pupcakes & chicken muttballs, ready to go in the freezer:

After all that supervising, Wiggle and Sofy had a little rest while I cut the grass but after, they were ready for some playtime, especially Sofy who was boinging with Mr Snake:

A game of tuggy started, which didn't end well for Mr Snake:

Mr Snake is now in several pieces....

And after some serious shredding and whapping, it's safe to say that Mr Snake will not be smirking at Wiggle or Sofy ever again.....
