Wiggle - Day 2,188

Yesterday turned out to be a bit more eventful than we expected!  In the afternoon Wiggle had an appointment at the vets as he has been limping more and wobbly on his back end.  Options are limited but he has been given Tramadol to help with the pain so we will see how that goes.

Sofy had come with us and we stopped at Maud Heath on the way back for a walk.

Wiggle headed toward the monument:

Quick rest in the shade:

While Wiggle was mooching around, Sofy sat on the bench at the base of the monument.  It's been there since 1838!

Turned out that Wiggle was looking for tasty cowpoopsnacks:

Sofy and Wiggle played some ball games as we headed back to the car:

But after that, we had a nasty shock when Sofy was running for the ball and her back legs gave way underneath her.  She yelped but couldn't get her legs underneath her, instead they were out to the sides and she dragged them along as her front feet were still running.  I caught her up and got her to sit down but she was panting and shaking and struggling to stand.

Needless to say, I was very scared and called the vets, arranging to take her straight in and after helping her stand and walk slowly, got her in the car but she was still very stressed.  Fortunately we didn't have to wait too long to be seen and after a thorough examination, the vet couldn't find an obvious injury and hopes that it is muscular, rather than a problem with a disc in her spine.

So poor little Sofy is now also on Metacam and resting, taking short lead walks and feeling very sorry for herself.  I shall be watching her closely and taking her straight back to the vets if necessary.

oh Wendy, poor you. I can only imagine how scare you were on those moments. I hope Sofy's issue is muscular but it all sounds so weird. And Wiggle's limping might mean the ball has to be thrown a little bit closer to you :)

*sending positive energy in your direction*

Hugs for both of them.

My Shasta did the splits once and had a hard time getting her rear under her for a couple of days.

I hope it is just a muscle pull for Sofy.

Ouchy-poor Sofy. Hope she is feeling better very soon. Very scary for you Wendy. Had a similar experience with Ruby a few months ago, got bit over excited about a squirrel. Xxxx
