Wiggle - Day 619

We're home again after a lovely time in London with our friends Mindy and Paul and their Lab's Toby and Beenz. If I'd have had any concerns about Sofy getting on with the boys, I needn't have worried as they all got along just fine, even after our journey ended up taking an hour longer than planned due to problems on the motorway. Sofy jumped out of the car with Wiggle, ran in to say hello and not a single grumble from anyone!

Sir H stayed in the house while we took everyone for a walk on Wandsworth Common where Sofy, Wiggle and Toby did lots of running and chasing around. Beenz prefers to pootle along at his own pace but by the evening, they all were ready to settle down:

Toby, relaxing:

Sofy - thoughtful face:

Beenz, snoozing....

Even Wiggle was feeling sleepy and he's normally the last one up!

All the dogs had a treat of carrot but Sir H wasn't keen:

Sleeping Toby:

Today we woke up to heavy rain but we'd made plans to go to Richmond Park, so off we went. Sofy and Wiggle splashed around in the stream:

And were soon joined by Toby:

Wiggle jumps out while Sofy stands by:

As we walked on, Toby was the last to catch up but soon came running at high speed!

Happy Lab's:

Toby found a nice big branch to chew on, so Sofy decided she'd make a start on the other end!

But Toby wanted to carry the branch and Sofy wasn't helping!

Sofy boings head first!

Beenz found his own log to carry, and was a happy boy.

Now we're home and the've all had dinner, the dogs are all fast asleep......

Wiggle - Day 618

We're in London! After a walk on the common, running and chasing the ball we all stopped for a coffee. All the dogs were good as we sat outside in the sunshine. Sir H stayed at the house, sleeping.

This evening everyone is relaxing....

(Beenz was on the other sofa so unable to take part in the group photo!)

Toby know's how to relax:

For now it's just Mindy and I, Sir H and Beenz in the lounge as Toby, Wiggle and Sofy are helping Paul cook supper!

Wiggle - Day 617

Wiggle has had a fun afternoon. I had a half day booked so got home after lunchtime and as it was nice and sunny, took Wiggle and Sofy up to the Downs.

One of Wiggle's Twitter pals, Barney, was also going to the Downs so we met up and had a very windy walk. Unfortunately, I'd forgotten to put the camera batteries on charge so no photo's!

We were lucky with the weather as despite it being very windy, the sun was shining and all the dogs had fun. Barney is only a youngster, 13 months old, but seemed to enjoy chasing the ball with Wiggle and Sofy. All 3 did lots of running and fetching and Sofy especially played tuggy lots - stealing the ball from the boys.

After all that running around, Wiggle and Sofy are fast asleep on the sofa.....

Wiggle - Day 616

Raining again here but Wiggle and Sofy have till been having fun.

Wiggle decided to find a toy while Sofy thought about picking up the big ball but then realised she couldn't fit it in her mouth!

Sofy watched Wiggle, licking her lips at the thought of having a chomp on the toy....

But Wiggle was teasing Sofy, flinging the toy in front of her!

Sofy decided to make out that she didn't really care:

But then found a ball of her own to chew on:

Wiggle - Day 615

Rain, rain, go away!!

I know we can't do much about the weather, but we're really getting bored of the end of winter and want spring to hurry along! Thankfully our morning walks are in the light but our evening walks are still in the dark. Most nights this week its been rain or drizzle but at least we have a long weekend to look forward to as I've got a couple of days off next week.

We're off to London at the weekend to stay with Mindy and Paul and of course Toby and Beenz. Wiggle and Sir H know them well and they're all the best of friends so it will be good to introduce Sofy to them. Beenz in particular has always had a soft spot for my choccie girls and I'm sure he'll be smitten with Sofy when he meets her.

Wiggle - Day 613

Since Sofy has been here, I've been doing a lot of thinking, mostly about dogs! And more specifically, how my canine companions seem to go in a cycle - 2 Black boys and a Choccie girl.

Back in 2005, I had Guinness, my first rescue Labrador and he'd been joined the year before by Poppy, beautiful ex-breeding bitch and Bumpy, blind Black Lab:

After Guinness passed away at the end of 2005, for a while it was just Poppy and Bumpy and the following year I started fostering.

Sadly, Poppy passed away in 2007, a short time after Dolly had arrived and in 2008, I lost Bumpy to cancer.

By the summer, Sir H and Wiggle had arrived arrived, and I was back to 2 Black Boys and a Choccie girl...

And now, the spot in the middle has been taken by another beautiful girl:

I never planned to have 3 and when I first adopted Guinness, back in 1999, would never have imagined that so many different Labrador's would have come and gone, some living out their last years, others on to new homes.

Having grown up with Labradors, I guess I have my parents to thank for my love of the breed and having been lucky to share my life with so many wonderful dogs, I can't imagine I'll ever have any other breed!

Wiggle - Day 612

After a cloudy and wet start to our Sunday, the sun came out this afternoon so I took the dogs up to the Downs. Sir H came too, as he loves nothing better than laying in the sunshine.

To start, Sir H, Sofy and Wiggle were each doing their own thing: Sir H laying, Sofy waiting for the ball and Wiggle just running:

Wiggle and Sofy playing chase:

Sir H, soaking up the sun:

All 3 together:

Sofy gets all hoppy with the ball!

While Sir H enjoys a good roll around on the grass:

Wiggle and Sofy, still playing chase:

Sir H, happy sunny old boy:

Sofy, sitting pretty:

Wiggle, waiting for the ball, as usual!

More play:

Sir H, just being himself.....

Sofy goes for the low-level approach to get the ball.....

.... and it worked!

Sunny Sir H:

My gentle, handsome, grey faced old man:

Four back feet off the ground:

Wiggle follows Sofy and the ball:

Sofy, flinging the ball!

Wiggle watches, hoping Sofy will drop the ball:

Sofy doesn't want to though!

Wiggle, pleading face, "please get the ball for me!"

Next throw and Sofy gets the ball - plus a mouthfull of grass!

Meanwhile, Sir H gets a cuddle, sitting in the sunshine with me....
