Wiggle - Day 438

Wiggle has a cousin in Canada! Well, ok, so not actually his proper cousin, but it's very nice to know that there's another gorgeous Lab in the family.

Here's Maggie, who belongs to Sandra and Harry. Isn't she beautiful?

Today Wiggle and I went along to the Cricklade Show to lend a hand on the Oldies Club stall. To be fair, we probably weren't much help but Wiggle did a little meeting and greeting even though he doesn't qualify as an 'oldie' until his birthday when he'll be seven.

Wiggle entered a couple of classes in the Dog Show and we were very happy to get a rosette in the Best Rescue class. There were loads of other very deserving dogs entered so Wiggle made me especially proud today.

Wiggle - Day 436

This afternoon Wiggle decided he would help while I was cutting the grass. Of course Wiggle's idea of helping was to bring a tennis ball and try and get me to play!

Even the pleading eye's didn't work. Well, not until I'd finished cutting the grass and there wasn't a chance of Wiggle getting in the way.

As Wiggle was clearly in need of a good run, I took the boys down to the river for a walk. Both of them were keen to check out the new smells and even Sir H had a boing about, hopping ahead of me with Wiggle:

Before long, Sir H was back to his usual pootling self....

Wiggle was keen to get in water, any water! Sir H watched, deciding this little bit of water didn't have the wallowing space he needed.

Wiggle was just happy to splash around, in and out!

Before long, Wiggle had a rather unattractive blob of slobber on his face:

Sir H meanwhile was far too busy as he'd found a particularly interesting blade of grass which needed a good 5 minutes of sniffing!

We walked on for a bit and when Wiggle spotted the river, he was straight in, waiting for me to throw the ball:

So I did!

Sir H got in and had a good wallow....

But Wiggle had no time for wallowing and was busy splashing around, in and out the water, chasing after his ball.

Since coming home, neither Wiggle nor Sir H have moved much......

Wiggle - Day 434

This morning we came downstairs to find we'd had a visitor. The evidence was there to be seen, on the back door mat:

And this was our little visitor:

Wiggle was not impressed to find a snail in his bed!

After the snail had been removed and Wiggle had been able to sleep alone again, this evening we went up to the Downs, as the light was fading. Wiggle ran on ahead, ready for me to throw the ball

Sir H was pottering slowly. I think the setting sun was moving faster than he was!

Wiggle was suffering from Flappy Ears - it was a tad windy up there.

But Wiggle being Wiggle, the wind wasn't going to stop him looning around after his ball:

Sir H enjoyed some quality rolling time:

While Wiggle stopped to get his breath back. Note the ears still flapping!

Sir H, probably hiding and trying to make out he wasn't with us......

Wiggle's Cotswold Camping Weekend

Now I'm feeling better, it's time for an update after our weekend away.

Wiggle and I had been to Cotswold View campsite before but camping was all new to Mindy, her son Kenny and his kids Ellie and Dan. After arriving in the afternoon, we got our tents up, the gazebo up and the dinner cooking on the barbecue.

Wiggle was being his usual, sociable self and enjoyed lots of cuddles and thankfully, Kenny was happy to oblige!

Being Labrador's, Beenz, toby and Wiggle were very interested in what we were eating!

As Wiggle had lived with kids in his previous life, he was happy and relaxed around the little ones:

Mindy's boys, Toby and Beenz, tested their sleeping accommodation!

The next day, after the rain stopped we got to the Cotswold Wildlife Park. Before going away, I'd done my research to find places we could go and where the dogs could come along too so it was good to all be out and about. Wiggle didn't really take much notice of the camel's though:

Wiggle, never one to be shy of the camera, was more than happy to sit and pose!

There's a little train that goes around the park, so we all went on that and Wiggle quite enjoyed watching everything as we trundled along:

After a stop for lunch we headed over to Bourton on the Water for a wander around. Wiggle was very happy to get his feet wet...

And was soon joined in the water by Dan!

Back at the campsite, Wiggle watched while Kenny and the kids setup a game of mini cricket:

Relaxed Wiggle:

Not wanting to miss out on the ball games, Wiggle spent some quality time munching on a tennis ball:

Evening, and Wiggle had 2 tennis balls to choose from:

Wiggle does like his home comforts so decided a human seating option would be preferrable to the ground.....

After a lazy Saturday morning, breakfast by the tent and eggs cooked for the dogs, we visited Birdland at Bourton on the Water. Again, another dog friendly place to visit.

The Penguin's found Wiggle rather interesting. I think the feeling was mutual, although it could have been that Wiggle would have enjoyed a swim!

A strange looking bird, watches Wiggle:

More birds. Well, we were at Birdland!!

Back at the campsite, all the dogs had lovely walks and shared our fish & chip supper before an early night and packing up to come home the next day.

Sir H stayed with my parents, (Thank you mum and dad!!) as he wouldn't have managed to do the amount of walking we did. Apparently he had a relaxing time, behaved himself and managed not to glare too much!

Monday 24 August 2009

We came home from camping yesterday after having had a great weekend. Unfortunately I've either got a bug or food poisoning so have been in bed most of the time since getting home! Hopefully I'll be back in a day or two with a full report from our camping trip...

Wiggle - Day 426

Wiggle and Sir H have been having a quiet few days while I've been working. Both boys are fine and Wiggle is conserving his energy in preparation for our camping trip. We're off to the Cotswold View site in Oxfordshire tomorrow for a few days and Sir H will be going to my parents. He's not up to walking far and he'll enjoy the peace and quiet there. I hope!

We'll be back on Sunday with a full report of our camping weekend.

Wiggle - Blue Cross Fun Day & Dog Show

Wiggle and I have had a fab day at the Blue Cross centre at Burford. Wiggle was on top form, meeting, greeting and hanging out on the LRSE&C stall:

Having a rest - it's hard work getting lots of fuss!

Back to greeting....

The weather was kind and there were a lot of visitors to the fun day:

Flyball display:

Wiggle took part in the fud dog show but seemed to enjoy hanging out with his new best friend, Libby, one of the many hounds belonging to our friends Gill and Chris.

Kai was also in the Best Rescue class with us

Kai and Libby won a rosette!

Wiggle is absolutely worn out now but we really did have a good day and hopefully raised lots of money for Lab Rescue. A big thank you to everyone who came and said hello, made a donation or bought some of our merchandise!
